| Fundraising |
The job of the PTA's Ways and Means Committee is to raise funds which are then used to pay for the
many programs, events and grants which enrich our students' educational experiences and support our
wonderful staff at Washington.
Here are the fundraisers planned (so far) for this school year. Detailed information about individual fundraisers
will be sent home at the appropriate times. If you would like more information about these fundraisers,
please contact Christy Flint, VP for Ways and Means using the "Contact Us"
page on this website.
Phantom Fundraiser (Dates TBS): Each year we depend on this event to
provide the majority of our budget. It does not require our children to sell products,
and 100% of the proceeds go directly to Washington’s PTA.
Phantom Corporate Matching Grants (year round):
Some companies (click to see a list)
will match employee donations, either monetarily or with equipment for the school.
Volunteer Time Corporate Grants (year-round): Some companies
(click to see a list)
will send money to Washington’s PTA when an employee or spouse has volunteered a certain amount of hours at the school.
Passive Fundraising (year-round): By linking grocery store rewards cards, patronizing Educational Funding
Alliance members and collecting Box Tops and Campbell’s Labels, you, your family and your friends can earn money for our
PTA through normal daily purchases. Click for more information.
School Spirit Items (year-round): Show your school spirit (and raise a little money)
by wearing school t-shirts and wristbands and placing a WES magnet on your car (or your child’s grandparent’s,
aunt’s and uncle’s cars). (More information, below).
Other Product Sales (occasionally throughout the year): The PTA is occasionally offered
opportunities to raise money through the sale of event tickets (e.g. Carolina Hurricanes or Carolina
Railhawks games), food during PTA-sponsored evening events or products such as Chick-fil-A calendars
or gift wrap. The Ways and Means Committee reviews these fundraising opportunities and usually
selects a few to offer to our Washington families throughout the year. Money raised through these
occasional sales is used to offset the cost of PTA programs and events.
