4th Grade Supply List 2009-2010
Dear Parents,
We would like to welcome you in advance to the fourth grade! We are excited to begin another great year of learning and discovery. Below is a list of materials that your child needs to bring on the first day of school. We will begin work on the first day. Therefore, it is very important that your child has the materials listed below on hand.

  1. A 3-ring binder 2 inches wide, and a total of 8 divider tabs that will be used to label and separate the different sections of the notebook. (We will label the tabs in school) The purpose of a 3-ring binder is to be able to add or subtract pages. Zip-up trapper keepers are often the most effective at keeping students organized.
  2. A soft pencil pouch with holes already punched so it will fit in the 3 ring binder. Please do not get a pencil box.
  3. Two packs of loose leaf paper, regular ruled
  4. A pack of colored markers, crayons, or colored pencils
  5. 2 black or blue ball point pens
  6. A pack of #2 pencils (You may not use a mechanical pencil in the fourth grade)
  7. A highlighter
  8. A box of tissues—please send in if your child is a girl
  9. A pack Clorox wipes—lemon, fresh scent, or lavender. (It must be Clorox brand and only these three type of scents per Wake County regulations) —please send in if your child is a boy.
  10. Three 70 count one-subject spiral bound notebook
  11. Two Composition notebooks
  12. Three folders with three prong brads. It is preferable for one folder to be a plastic folder
  13. A copy of Storm Warriors by Elisa Carbone, please have your child wait to read this with his/her class.
  14. A great attitude and a smile
  15. Each fourth grader will be required to purchase a homework planner on the first day of school. The cost of the planner is around $6.00. We will have the exact price and will make planners available for you to purchase on Meet and Greet the Teacher Day. Checks may be made payable to Washington Elementary School. The planner is extremely useful in helping students to become more organized and responsible for their work.
  16. Your child's teacher may ask for 1 or 2 additional items the first few weeks of school to meet the specific instructional needs of their classroom. Additionally, certain supplies like pencils, paper, and pens will need to be replenished throughout the year.

We recommend that each child have at home a Webster's Intermediate dictionary and a student thesaurus.**Remember, our school policy does not permit rolling backpacks/suitcases.
**Students will not be allowed to bring in toys or electronic gadgets of any kind.
We look forward to achieving great things with your child---- Mr. Ash, Mr. Barton, Ms. Dyess (Formerly Ms. Forbes), and Ms. Hopson.
