Washington GT Magnet Elementary School
Code of Conduct
We have readopted the 1923 Washington school motto "CHARACTER, COURTESY, AND CULTURE," and written a code of conduct for all students to follow. By working together, we can continue to make our school a safe place that allows students to develop their gifts and talents to the fullest.
- CHARACTER I will do my best to demonstrate good character by:
- Helping all students feel Washington GT is a friendly place.
- Speaking positively to and of other students and teachers.
- Discussing differences of opinion or conflicts.
- Using good judgement in making choices.
- Having the courage to do the right thing even when others don't.
- Striving to learn.
- Having the perseverance to try again and never give up.
- Having the self-discipline to work hard and be in control of my words and actions.
- Showing responsibility regarding my classwork and behavior.
- Displaying good sportsmanship.
- Refraining from bringing to school items or weapons that can harm.
- COURTESY I will do my best to demonstrate courtesy by:
- Treating others with kindness, as you would like to be treated.
- Demonstrating integrity by being truthful and honest.
- Attending class on time.
- Following individual classroom rules.
- Making sure that I am quiet enough to allow others to learn.
- Using appropriate manners in the cafeteria.
- Moving quietly and safely in the halls and stairwells of the building.
- Observing all fire drills, tornado drills, and safety rules carefully.
- Refraining from bringing toys or cards, to trade or sell, and materials that are inappropriate for school use.
- CULTURE I will do my best to demonstrate cultural respect by:
- Respecting myself, others and authority.
- Recognizing the strengths and weaknesses in myself and others.
- Working to understand differences.
- Celebrating diversity and uniqueness.
- Understanding that all people have value as human beings.
