MISSION, BELIEFS AND VISION STATEMENTS
MISSION STATEMENT:
Washington Gifted and Talented Elementary's educational mission is to find and nurture the gifts and talents of all students, to develop essential skills and prepare students to be life-long learners.
- We believe in creating an environment in which children are active learners, deserving dignity, respect and recognition for their efforts, achievements and diversity.
- We believe that the process of early identification and academic intervention is necessary to achieve school success and development confident, life-long learners.
- We believe in fostering a collaborative environment between all stakeholders that promotes choice, support, respect, and collegiality.
- We believe that we must equip our students with thye communication, problem solving, healthful living, and social skills to meet the demands of a gobal society.
- We believe in a safe learning community with enthusiastic students, parents and teachers.
- We believe the school should continually improve to meet the needs of each individual child.

operates under a set of values that is taken in consideration in everything we
do.
- VISION STATEMENT:
- Upon entering Washington GT Magnet, we see children who are the primary concern of all people who work here. We immediately sense a warm, safe, positive, and caring atmosphere. The sights and sounds of students reflect the school's child-centered philosophy, which actively involves children in learning.
- We observe an instructional program that has been cooperatively developed by teachers, parents, and children. The program is innovative and challenges all children to reach their fullest potential with experiences that lead to success. Resources, technology and materials are readily available to support and supplement the instructional program and meet changing individual needs. The electives allow for the unique educational needs of children.
- A workable student-teacher ratio exists that allows teachers to give students personal attention. Every child has an equal opportunity and access to learning resources. Faculty and staff work together as a team to formulate mutual goals and objectives. Community and parental resources are integrated into the teaching-learning process. Opportunities are continually provided in all disciplines, which allow the child to thrive in aspects of left today and in the future.
