LITERARY STYLES: POETRY
- AG Ms. Bledsoe is teaching this elective! Get ready to write lots of poems! This course is designed for gifted students or high-ability learners with high verbal skills and for students who display a keen interest in poetry and an inclination towards creative writing. Students will write a variety of poetry forms, rhythmical patterning, incorporating similes, and metaphors. Culminating activities include conducting poetry readings for younger children, publishing a class anthology of students, poems with illustrations, and/or making a multi-media presentation to be shared with parents. Do you know what a cinquain or an acrostic poem is? You will get to create your own poems and learn about a Haiku! |

Continuing Madam Ware-Partin teaches this elective! This semester-long course provides a speaking proficiency approach to learning French. Students will learn to communicate in French on a level appropriate for their age and interests. Songs, games, and dances will be included as learning activities. This semester-long course is designed for students who have successfully completed 3-5 BEGINNING FRENCH or a content-enhanced French elective. Listening, comprehension, and speaking skills will be further developed. This course is not recommended for students who had a lapse of one or more years of study in the language.Students will learn to communicate in French on a level appropriate for their age and interests. Songs, games, and dances will be included as learning activities. Mrs. Ware-Partin puts on a fun French play each year with her students! |
PUBLIC SPEAKING AND DEBATE - AG Ms. Bledsoe is teaching this elective! Click Here to learn more about Public Speaking And Debate In the first part of this course, students will explore the production and reception of oral communication in three major types of public speaking: informative, persuasive, and entertaining. Emphasis will be on writing, delivering, and critiquing informal and formal speeches. The second portion of the course will be devoted to teaching students the elements of formal debate. Students will then use acquired skills to debate issues in class. |

NARNIA - GT Mrs.Crosson teaches this elective! The first of seven enchanting books, THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE, will be the basis for this course. The author, plot, setting, and major themes will be explored. This elective will combine both reading and creative writing experiences. You have to be a very big reader for this elective! Have fun!!! P.S. The Narnia books are lots of fun! |
